The South African Football Association is disgruntled with reports suggesting that Molefi Ntseki's appointment, as head coach of Bafana Bafana was a 'cheaper option'.
Ntseki's appointment at the helm of Bafana Bafana came as a shock to the football fraternity, where subsequently questions were asked about whether or not the former South African U17 head coach was the 'cheaper' option due to the association's current financial battles.

Speaking to the Siya crew, SAFA's Head of Communications, Dominic Chimhavi has backed Ntseki's appointment, maintaining that he was the most suitable candidate for the head coach role and not because it was a 'cheaper' route to take for SAFA.
"Once again, I personally take great exception to such false reportage by the public. Ntseki, like his predecessors, has a contract that befits all Senior Men's National teams. Of course, we can't divulge the contents of his contract as this is per employer/employee decrees. Why do people say Ntseki was a cheap option? Is it because of the colour of his skin? That statement is unfair to Ntseki and his proud standing," Chimhavi said.v
"He was the most suitable candidate as shown by the unanimous endorsement he got from the entire SAFA NEC and financial issues were never a consideration when appointing the Senior Men's National coach. SAFA has never taken shortcuts when it comes to the appointment of national coaches hence all our national teams are qualifying for major tournament whether continentally or globally (We have done very well in qualifying for major tournaments on consistent basis and the next part of Vision 2022 is to make sure that we make an impact in these tournaments.
"Back to Ntseki, he was deemed the most suitable candidate having worked with all national teams and being assistant to Shakes Mashaba and Stuart Baxter. He fulfilled the criteria set upon in finding the next Bafana Bafana coach and we can positively say he earned his current status and we ask the nation to give him an unqualified support," Chimhavi went on to say.
