Bafana Coach Now Has A Contract

Bafana Coach Now Has A Contract

Molefi Ntseki has finally signed a contract to be Bafana Bafana coach until after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, his agent has confirmed.

The Siya crew broke the news late last month that the national team mentor had still not put pen to paper on any agreement with the federation following the decision to appoint him as Stuart Baxter's successor in August.

His representative, Thato Matuka of Brand Arc, had confirmed to the crew at the time that because of the urgency to prepare Bafana Bafana for back-to-back 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers last month there was a delay in sealing the deal.

Russell Paul, who was still SAFA acting chief executive at the time, had undertaken to finalise talks with the coach, though he had told journalists Ntseki had been given the job until after the World Cup in Qatar having been unanimously picked by the national executive committee as the next senior men's national team coach.

Matuka said: "After the two qualifiers against Ghana and Sudan, we sat down again with the new acting CEO, Mr Gay Mokoena, to continue the discussions and all parties are now satisfied. The coach has a contract until after the 2022 World Cup."

Ntseki has now been in charge of three Bafana matches – one friendly against Mali and the two Afcon qualifiers last month, where his team lost against Ghana and beat Sudan. Bafana will be back in action in March next year when World Cup qualifiers kick off.
