Kearyn Baccus appears to have caught the eye of the national team, with Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki confirming they were "monitoring" the Kaizer Chiefs midfielder.
His selection, if it comes to that, would be a little complex though in that Baccus has dual citizenship and last week expressed an interest in playing for both South Africa – his country of birth – and Australia, where he grew up.

"I was made aware last week that one of the Kaizer Chiefs players qualifies to play for South Africa, so the monitoring and profiling has already started so that when we bring him in we should do so with the understanding to say 'what value is he going to add' to the team," said Ntseki on Monday morning.
Baccus has become somewhat of a fan favourite at Chiefs despite only arriving in July from Melbourne City in Australia as one of several new signings.
To date, the Durban-born midfielder has featured in all of the club's eight Absa Premiership matches and contributed with a goal and two assists.
"Everyone who raises up his hand to say I want to play for Bafana Bafana, we will do the right thing – profile, assess and observe. If you look at him he has started with Chiefs, who are enjoying a good run. That's when you see the best of some of the players because winning also brings confidence. We will continue to assess him, but it was good to him to say he is available and can play for South Africa," the coach explained.
