Two thrilling Absa Premiership fixtures will keep Mzansi on the edge of their seats in the coming days as it will play a big role in how the title is decided.
The league campaign will resume action on Tuesday, August 11, with just four weeks left before the champions are crowned.
However, two specific fixtures will take centre-stage, as the results will greatly affect both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns' title chances.
Mamelodi Sundowns vs Orlando Pirates, August 11 at the Dobsonvile Stadium
Why Sundowns need to win:
Sundowns will host the Buccaneers on Tuesday evening in the opening Absa Premiership encounter.
The Brazilians are currently second-placed on the log with 44 points; four behind log leaders Amakhosi, with nine games left to be played.
A win for Head Coach Pitso Mosimane's side in this encounter is of utmost importance.
Sundowns will be able to move within a point of Chiefs at the end of the fixture, should they secure maximum points against the Bucs and while they are yet to play their game in hand, Amakhosi will begin to feel the pressure.
What it means if they don't win:
On the other hand, losing or drawing against Pirates would put a big dent in their title chances as Amakhosi could move seven or six points ahead with a win against Bidvest Wits the following evening.
Meanwhile, three-points for the Bucs would increase their chances at the title, as they will have 43 points and move to third on the log.
Kaizer Chiefs vs Mamelodi Sundowns, August 27 at the Orlando Stadium
Why Chiefs need to win:
Chiefs could have one hand on the Absa Premiership trophy, if they secure a win against the Brazilians come August 27.
However, Amakhosi need to make sure they win all their remaining fixtures leading up to that day. Although, it also depends on whether Sundowns do the same.
After this encounter, Chiefs and Sundowns will be level on games played and the points can be properly assessed without taking into account any games in hand.
What it means if they don't win:
Chiefs can't afford to drop any points in their remaining matches and while it could be too early to predict their position come August 27, they will want to make sure that there is a comfortable distance between themselves and Sundowns.
