David Silva scored the only goal of the game to hand Spain a 1-0 win over Belarus in their Euro 2016 Qualifier at the Borisov Arena on Sunday evening.
Spain boss, Vicente del Bosque, drafted Iker Casillas, Santi Cazorla, David Silva and Alvaro Morata back into the starting xi for his 100th game in charge.
La Roja could have taken the lead after just two minutes when Pedro Rodriguez was played through on goal, but Gorbunov was on hand to deny the Barcelona forward.
The visitors went close once again in the 10th minute, as Alvaro Morata latched onto a pass from Cesc Fabregas, before firing an effort just wide of the upright.
Gorbunov was called into action in the 19th minute, as the Belarus shot-stopper pulled off a fine save to keep out Sergio Ramos'header.
Vicente del Bosque's side continued to dominate as the half went on, while Pedro and Jordi Alba went close with long range efforts of their own after the 30-minute mark.
Spain managed to break the deadlock on the stroke of halftime, as David Silva slotted home from close range, after Gorbunov failed to deal with a set-piece.
Belarus were presented with their first opening in the 55th minute , when the ball fell to Maksim Bardachow in the box, but the defender blazed over the crossbar.
Iker Casillas had to be at his best in the 62nd minute, as the Spanish shot-stopper produced a fine stop to keep out Ivan Maevski's stinging effort.
Silva nearly got his second of the game in the 84th minute but Gorbunov was on hand to deny the midfielder with a fine save.
The narrow victory sees Spain remain in second spot, three points behind Group C leaders Slovakia.
