This publication has reliably been informed that the Netherlands youth international is joining the Usuthu squad at the start of this week, in an effort to assess his level before potentially bringing him on board.
Van Duivenbooden has previously been included in Hugo Broos’ preliminary Bafana Bafana squad, but has yet to make the final cut. Now, he will be hoping to break into the national team fold with a move closer to his paternal homeland.
The 2024/25 campaign was a difficult one for the 23-year-old, as he started only eight matches for Dutch second division side Vitesse, making a further eight appearances off the bench.
He failed to score throughout the season, but during his youth days, the Uithoorn native was regarded as one of the brightest young talents in the Netherlands. He will be hoping to recapture that form in Durban.
While the player has not yet officially signed for the KwaZulu-Natal-based outfit, information reaching the Siya crew is that the club appreciates his qualities and is leaning towards offering him a deal.
This past weekend, AmaZulu confirmed the release of as many as 16 first-team players, with attackers such as Msindisi Ndlovu, Boniface Haba, and Augustine Mulenga all departing the club.
