The Yellow Canaries confirmed the departure of the legendary Portuguese tactician earlier today. The decision comes after the club were ousted by Benfica in the Champions League playoff rounds following a narrow 1-0 aggregate defeat.
In an official statement, the club announced:
“FOR PUBLIC INFORMATION: Our Professional Football First Team's technical director, Jose Mourinho, who has been carrying out his duties since the start of the 2024/25 season, has parted ways with us. We thank him for his efforts for our team until today and wish him success in his future career. — Fenerbahce Sports Club”
The 62-year-old’s departure from the Istanbul-based club comes after a highly tumultuous tenure in charge of the Super Lig outfit. Fenerbahce had hoped to leverage Mourinho’s vast experience and reputation to restore the club to the summit of Turkish football.
