The former Manchester United midfielder returned to the Bianconeri's matchday squad on Sunday, in their 1-0 Serie A loss to Sassuolo.
Pogba, 30, has suffered several injuries since making the free-agent switch back to the Old Lady last year, fitness issues that have seen him play just four times since the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign.
Following his seven-minute cameo on the weekend, head coach Allegri seemed to concede that the Frenchman is not the player he was in his first spell at Juventus.
"Pogba is a strong player," he said, according to DAZN.
"But right now he's not in the ideal condition to play a 90-minute match. He is still behind athletically, today (Sunday) was already better than last time but he is still behind.
"We all see that he is a different player. Slowly, we'll bring him maybe to half an hour and then later.
"The important thing is that it gives consistency, the knee is responding well."
Rumours earlier this season suggested the club would be willing to part ways with Pogba at the end of the season amid his injury battles.
Between 2012 and 2016, the France international became one of the world's most sought-after midfielders before making a then-record return to the Red Devils, whom he had represented on a handful of occasions under Sir Alex Ferguson before leaving on a free transfer.
