6) Gianluigi Donnarumma (AC Milan) – €6 million

Former Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo agreed to whopping salary at Juventus when he joined them last month, but did you know the superstar's massive income is higher than the overall wage bill of 10 of the 20 Serie A sides?

Click through the mini-gallery above to see the highest-paid players in Italy, and what they earn annually, as per Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 33-year-old joined Juventus in a deal worth €100 million (R1.71 billion), plus another €17 million (R291 million) in add-ons, during the latest transfer window.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, his Bianconeri contract is worth €31 million (R530 million) a year, which makes him the highest-paid player in Italy by far – AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain follows in second place with annual income of €9.5 million (R162 million).

In fact, Ronaldo's salary is so high that he earns more than the overall wage bill of 10 of the 20 teams in Italy's top flight.

The Portugal captain pockets almost double what Empoli – the team with the lowest wage bill in Serie A – pay their whole squad.
