According to the Daily Mail, the 14-time European champions are considering an approach for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.
The Spanish giants are currently in the middle of a defensive injury crisis and have earmarked the young Englishman as a potential option.
The 21-year-old was handed his senior debut at the Toffees by Carlo Ancelotti in 2020 in a 3-0 Carabao Cup win at home over Salford City.
It is claimed Branthwaite has earned interest from top Premier League sides such as Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, but that he is also being watched in Spain.
The defender has reportedly received messages of encouragement from Ancelotti's son, his assistant manager at Real, Davide.
His form in England has led to Everton recently extending his deal by another three years with the option of a further 12 months.
Amid glowing reports from scouts, Los Blancos are believed to be studying whether Branthwaite has the "mentality and personality" to undertake such a move.
