Spanish prosecutors have cleared Lionel Messi of tax fraud charges, but his father could go to prison.

The authorities believe Jorge Horacio Messi purposefully committed fraud in relation to the management of his son's image rights.
The charge is in relation to a failure to pay over €4 million of income tax in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Prosecutors stated that, due to Messi's age at the time and the relationship to his father, who controls his son's economic interests and tax obligations, the player was cleared of any wrongdoing.
"It has not been proven that his lack of knowledge was deliberate or was done with the aim of defrauding the public purse," a statement read, as quoted by AS.
However, Messi has been requested to appear in court as a witness.
