FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has written his name into the history with his many goal milestones, but now he has also claimed an historical assist record.

With his assist for Neymar's 1-0 in the 5-0 thrashing over Levante, Messi has overtaken Luis Figo.
The former FC Barcelona and Real Madrid had reportedly set up 105 goals for his teammates during his playing days, but Messi assisted his 106th goal on Sunday.
Following his La Liga all-time goal record, which he extended to 269 goals for Barcelona, the 27-year-old is now also the king of assists.
It can't be confirmed whether Messi is in fact the leading all-time assist provider in Spanish's top flights, because assists are only counted for the last 25 years.
During this period, however, Messi has set up more goals than anybody else.
His Barcelona teammates Xavi and Dani Alves reportedly follow behind Messi and Figo in third and fourth spot of the assist rankings.

The Catalan giants are currently on a run of 11 consecutive wins in all competitions, equaling Pep Guardiola's record run of wins.
However, Luis Enrique and his side still have some way to go to beat the club's best-ever winning run of 18 successive victories from the 2005/06 season under Frank Rijkaard.
