With Manchester United's Marcus Rashford recently signing a new bumper deal that many do not feel he deserves, here are some players who could perhaps be considered football's most overpaid players, including two FC Barcelona stars.

Many supporters have reacted angrily to Rashford's new contract reward, especially after his average 2018/19 season in which he scored just 13 goals across all competitions. The 21-year-old was handed a bumper contract said to be worth £200 000 (R3.5 million) a week, which has made him one of the club's highest-earners.
While United might have been eager to tie him down on a long and lucrative deal, Rashford is perhaps now one of the most overpaid players in the sport. The new wage might also bring about added pressure on his shoulders, but supporters of the Red Devils will hope it will motivate him to score plenty more than he did in the previous campaign.

A case could be made for Catalan club winger Ousmane Dembele, who reportedly earns around £220 000 (R3.9 million) every seven days in Barcelona. Considering he has scored just 18 goals in 65 appearances for the club, considering the many injury issues he has had, and taking into account the club are reportedly looking to offload him in his window, maybe he, too, earns too much.
His teammate Phillipe Coutinho, who walks away with even more money than he does, might also not be deserving of his weekly wage at the Catalan club, but what about former Germany international Mesut Ozil? The Arsenal playmaker is said to be on £350 000 (R6.2 billion) a week in London, despite hardly appearing a part of Unai Emery's plans.
Wales and Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale is on the same wage as Ozil, and with Los Blancos struggling to offload the unwanted 29-year-old, he might still be on that salary for a while longer. Alexis Sanchez is included in the list, though even earns a smaller basic wage than Shanghai SIPG Oscar.
Reports suggest the Brazilian midfielder is on £400 000 (R7.1 million) a week in China, a rather ridiculous amount of money bearing in mind the league last year had an average attendance of just 24 000 and he is no longer considered for his national team.
Neymar also features, perhaps controversially, but is he worth the insanely high wage he earns at Paris Saint-Germain? While his individual numbers have been brilliant, the 27-year-old has failed to deliver the coveted UEFA Champions League trophy, and he has struggled with two long-term injuries.

Additionally, the forward has caused one or two stirs, and for the wrong reasons, away from the field since he has been in Paris, which perhaps goes to show that huge salaries sometimes leave even the most talented of players complacent. It is also worth noting that Neymar is believed to be open to cutting his salary in half in order to return to Barca.
