It has been claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to join Arsenal in the January transfer window following his unceremonious departure from Manchester United.

The 38-year-old is currently plying his trade in Saudi Arabia for second-placed Al Nassr, for whom he has scored 12 goals in 16 appearances since the turn of the year.
Ronaldo signed a world-record two-year contract with the Saudi Pro League giants ahead of a January move as a free agent, after his deal at the Red Devils was mutually terminated in November 2022.
The Portuguese parted ways with the English giants following a high-profile fallout that included an explosive interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, during which he publicly slammed manager Erik ten Hag and the Glazer family.
Morgan, an Arsenal supporter and seemingly a friend of Ronaldo's, has now suggested that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner would have been open to joining the Gunners in January, which he believes would have helped the London side win the Premier League title.
Mock all you like, but if we'd signed Ronaldo when he left Utd, until the end of the season - as he was keen to do btw - we would have won the League. He knows how to win major trophies, and how to score goals when it really matters. https://t.co/nxRhDCONRC

The broadcaster was responding to comment from a Twitter user who appeared to poke fun at his affinity towards the ex-Real Madrid talisman.

Prior to his departure from United, Chelsea had also been mooted as a potential destination for Ronaldo after co-owner Todd Boehly expressed an interest in securing his services.
