Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed he still wants to play at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, aged 37.

The Portuguese forward turned 31 last week, and one would think the 2018 World Cup in Russia would be his last shot at the tournament.

However, Ronaldo has now explained that he wants to play for his national team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which is in six years from now on.

"I expect Qatar could be my final World Cup," he told beIN Sports.

"I often go on holidays there, to Qatar as well as Dubai.

"I am happy because for sure it will be my last international tournament."

Ronaldo made his Portugal debut in 2003 at the age of 18, and became his country's captain in 2008.

In November 2014, he became Portugal's top goalscorer in the national team's history. Overall, he has netted 55 goals in 123 appearances for his country.
