Ten Hag Responds To Big Ronaldo Question

Erik ten Hag has been asked whether he feels Manchester United's turning point of the season was Cristiano Ronaldo's exit.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has responded to the suggestion that Cristiano Ronaldo's departure helped his team enjoy a successful season.

Following the Portugal forward's explosive interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan earlier this season, the Red Devils and the five-time Ballon d'Or winner agreed to part ways.

The decision was reached after Ronaldo publicly slammed Ten Hag, accusing the Dutchman of disrespecting him, and took aim at the club, its owners and unnamed teammates too.

Ronaldo thus joined up with his international colleagues for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as a free agent, before taking his career to Saudi Arabia after agreeing to join Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr.

After the mid-season break, United enjoyed an impressive run of form domestically, winning the Carabao Cup and eventually managing a third-place finish in the Premier League.

Ten Hag, though, when asked if Ronaldo's exit proved to be the turning point for his team, was not prepared to share his opinion on the matter.

"If you're observing that, it's up to you," he told The Times.

"So, what I want to see from my team is a team who are proactive, dynamic, determined. I've seen many times Manchester United with that attitude, so that's what I like.

"It's not that we are satisfied. There's still a long way to go but we're definitely showing this mentality."
