According to TyC Sports, the Red Devils do not want starlet Alejandro Garnacho to play in the upcoming international showpiece for Argentina.
The 18-year-old has been somewhat of a revelation for the Mancunians since breaking into the club's first team, having found the back of the net five times and assisted another six goals this season, but has been out of action since last month with an ankle injury.
Garnacho recently revealed that he was progressing well from the medical setback, and that he should be fully fit before the end of the campaign, but it appears manager Erik ten Hag is wary of being without the impactful attacker once again.
The youth World Cup will be held in the forward's home nation after Indonesia were no longer eligible to host the competition. Should the former Atletico Madrid academy product make his way to the tournament in South America, which starts on 20 May, he would miss United's final two Premier League games of the season, as well as the FA Cup and UEFA Europa League finals should they successfully make it that far.
The same report suggests that Argentina U20 head coach Javier Mascherano is trying everything in his power to have Garnacho available for the tournament.

With the record EPL champions currently without crucial players in Marcus Rashford, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane, it seems their Dutch head coach is trying to retain as much firepower as possible as the 2022/23 campaign reaches its business end.
