A former Manchester United player has slammed his ex-teammate Harry Maguire, whom he claims was only ahead of him due to his price tag.

Centre-back Marcos Rojo was on United's books for seven years following his arrival from Sporting Lisbon in 2014, making 122 appearances across all competitions.
A season and a half of his time in England was spent with Maguire, who arrived at the Red Devils in 2019 as the most expensive defender in history, but Rojo's playing time decreased as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferred the England international on the left side of central defence.
The 33-year-old, now on the books of Boca Juniors, has opened up about his frustration with Maguire taking his place in the side, revealing Solskjaer told him he was forced to play the ex-Leicester City man due to the money paid for his signature.
"In 2019, I was very good in England. I was playing in the Europa League but I was very angry with the coach because he was putting Maguire in the team instead of me," he told TyC Sports.
"Thank God, they have taken him out now and Licha (Lisandro) Martinez is playing.
"One day I went to Solskjaer's office to tell him to let me leave for another club or put me in the starting line-up. I said it was wrong that I wasn't playing.
"But he told me that Maguire had to play regardless because they had paid so much money for him.
"He was making huge mistakes every week already and I told Solskjaer: 'Son of a b****, let me play because this guy is making huge mistakes every week.'"

Maguire has largely been used in a limited role this season under Erik ten Hag, with the aforementioned Lisandro Martinez and even Luke Shaw being preferred ahead of him.
