BREAKING: Benzema To Miss World Cup

Real Madrid star Karim Benzema will miss France's 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign.

The 2022 Ballon d'Or winner had not been training with team in the last few days, having been struggling with an injury before the break.

'Mbappe Is Only At 40 or 50 % Of His Potential'

The French national side confirmed on Saturday that the Los Blancos striker will miss the entire tournament due to a thigh injury.

"Hit in the quadriceps of the left thigh, Karim @Benzema is forced to give up participating in the World Cup," the team tweeted.

"The whole team shares Karim's sadness and wishes him a speedy recovery"

Benzema's withdrawal is the second for the defending world champions this week, after fellow striker Christopher Nkunku was ruled out through after a hard challenge from teammate Eduardo Camavinga.

Didier Deschamps' men begin the defence of their World Cup crown against Australia on Tuesday evening.
