Fernandes Leads Portugal To Big Win In Ronaldo's Absence

Portugal 4-0 Nigeria

Portugal cruised to a 4-0 win over Nigeria in a World Cup warm-up encounter on Thursday evening.

The hosts were without Cristiano Ronaldo due to a stomach bug, as Joao Felix and Andre Silva started upfront.

Fernando Santos' charges raced into a two-goal lead thanks to a brace from Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes.

Emmanuel Dennis had a chance to pull a goal back for Nigeria on 81 minutes, but he failed to convert a spot-kick.

Goncalo Ramos got his name on the score-sheet a minute later, before Joao Mario wrapped up the scoring two minutes later.

The 2016 European champions begin their World Cup campaign against African opposition, as they take on Ghana next week.

Morocco 3-0 Georgia

Morocco warmed up for the World Cup with a 3-0 victory over Georgia at the Sharjah Stadium.

Youssef En-Nesyri opened the scoring for the Moroccans after just five minutes, before Hakim Ziyech doubled the lead with a spectacular effort after scoring from inside his own half.

Sofiane Boufal wrapped up the scoring for the Atlas Lions from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute.

Morocco begin their World Cup campaign with against Croatia next week.

Jordan 1-3 Spain

Spain registered a 3-1 victory over Jordan in their World Cup warm-up encounter on Thursday evening.

Barcelona forward Ansu Fati opened the scoring for 2010 World champions in 13th minute after being set up by Marco Asensio.

Gavi then doubled La Roja's lead 11 minutes into the second half, before Nico Williams got his first goal for Spain in the 84th minute.

Hamza Al Dardour grabbed a consolation for Jordan late in the game, as Spain held on for the win ahead of their World Cup opener against Costa Rica.

Ghana 2-0 Switzerland

Ghana secured a good victory ahead of their World Cup opener after defeating Switzerland.

Andre Ayew made history after becoming the most capped player for the Black Stars with 110 appearances.

The goals only arrived in the second half, with Mohammed Salisu opening the  scoring on 70 minutes before Antoine Semenyo doubled the lead four minutes later.
