The Moroccan side enters the competition as a big underdog after being placed in the so-called 'Group of Death' alongside Al Ain, Manchester City, and Juventus.
Benhachem was appointed to lead the team at the tournament, replacing South African head coach Rulani Mokwena, after the manager and club failed to reach an agreement.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Benhachem revealed how his team planned to approach the competition, according to Akhbar el-Yom.
"Our first goal is to represent Moroccan football with pride and defend the club’s history on the continental and global stage," Benhachem said.
"Wydad has an honourable history, both locally and in Africa—and we’ll defend that in the US. But we know how difficult this challenge is, especially against historic clubs like Manchester City, packed with stars and led by the great Pep Guardiola," he added.
The coach used Morocco's semi-final appearance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup as inspiration for his troops.
"Our goal now is to regain our balance and try to satisfy the Wydad fans and even Moroccan fans in general. Just like the national team that reached the 2022 World Cup semi-finals. Why not dream?” he said.
The Red Castle also made several key signings, including former PSL target Stephane Aziz Ki. But he admitted there were still some gaps that needed to be filled before the first game against Man City.

"Our level is gradually improving. We need to quickly reach the required technical level—but one that also matches our real capabilities," he concluded.
