The Moroccan side has been placed in the alleged 'Group of Death' at the Club World Cup alongside UAE side Al Ain, English giants Manchester City and Italian juggernauts Juventus.

Despite the daunting task ahead, Harkass revealed that Wydad will not stand down against any opponent, no matter their stature and quality, according to Africa Soccer.

"I respect all these clubs, which are renowned in their leagues and have top-level players, but it’s the details that make the difference in these kinds of matches,” The Red Castle captain said.

He continued: "We must therefore be enthusiastic and face these teams as if we were in our own league. Respect must be mutual because names mean nothing in football. Football delivers its verdict on the pitch.”

Harkass admitted he holds a responsibility as captain to keep his team grounded and motivated and said his team was not there just to make up numbers, but to re-write history.

The Moroccan said Wydad would bring their characteristic intensity and discipline to every match, regardless of the opponent’s reputation.

"As captain, I always talk to my teammates about the Club World Cup," Harkass said.

"They are aware of the challenge that awaits them and they are eager to take on this challenge. You will see what we are capable of,” he declared.
