At the start of the year, the out-of-favour attacker completed a surprise loan move from Mamelodi Sundowns to the Red Castle. Since then, the Bloemfontein native has performed well for the record Moroccan champions, with multiple rumours suggesting that Wydad want to sign him on a permanent basis.
Should they successfully secure his services, the Bafana Bafana international will feature at the global club football spectacle, which kicks off next month. The three-time African champions will come up against Man City, Juventus, and Emirati outfit Al Ain in the group stage, and Lorch has revealed his excitement at the prospect of playing against Pep Guardiola’s charges.
“I'm very happy to be participating in the Club World Cup, and I'm very happy for the team. We'll have some great matches against big clubs," the 31-year-old told FIFA’s official website, as per El Botola.
"I support Manchester City, so I'm excited to face them. Manchester City and Juventus are two big teams, so it will be great to play against them, to see their performance, and to learn from them because they play at a high level.”
The former Orlando Pirates man went on to explain how it has been difficult acclimatising to life in Casablanca but claims that the club and his teammates have made the adjustment easier.
"It's not easy coming from South Africa to Morocco, where everyone knows me in my country, while here no one knows me, so I had to adapt to the new situation,” Lorch added.
"I think my teammates, coaches, and even the fans have welcomed me well into the team. I think I'm adapting well to the atmosphere now."
