A Wydad Athletic Club star has given his assessment of Rulani Mokwena’s final days in charge of the club as well as how Cassius Mailula played after finding out about the passing of his mother.

Following the Red Castle’s final league match of the campaign this past weekend against Renaissance Club Athletic Zemamra, the record Moroccan champions officially parted ways with Rulani Mokwena.
The South African tactician had been placed on special leave the last three matchdays of the Botola Pro Inwi season, matches where the Casablanca based institutition were able to win and successfully secure CAF Confederation Cup football.
Mohamed Amine Benhachem was responsible for the final three wins of the league campaign as Wydad return to continental football after missing out on CAF competition’s for the first time in 10 years.
After the match, right back Fahd Moufi revealed that while the club fell short of their expectations of qualifying for the CAF Champions League, it was Benhachem who changed the atmosphere that was left behind Mokwena and they are grateful to be back competing among Africa’s best teams.
"We are back in the Confederation Cup, but we are not happy because our goal was to qualify for the CAF Champions League and make the fans happy. Despite that, we say thank God," the 29-year-old said after their 2-0 victory, as per El Botola.
" Mokwena did his job, but the ball wasn't on his side. Benhachem came and changed the atmosphere and everything, and now we see the good work he's doing."
Mailula was on the scoresheet once again for Wydad but after the match, news emerged that he had just received news that he had lost his mother earlier that day. Moufi went on to commend the former Mamelodi Sundowns star for his bravery for his insistence to play despite receiving the devasting news.

"His mother passed away and he told us that he felt that way before the match, but he still played the match. I congratulate him on that."
