FIFA has revealed their plan to fill the final slot for the FIFA Club World Cup to make it a 32-team competition once again.

FIFA will schedule a once-off play-off match between Mexican side Club America and US side Los Angeles FC (LAFC) to determine who will fill the 32nd and final spot in the competition, FIFA announced on its website.
It was previously reported that Club Leon, who won the 2023 CONCACAF Champions League, were expelled from the competition as the club's owners, Grupo Pachuca, violated FIFA's multi-club ownership because the group also owns CF Pachuca, who are also in the competition.
LAFC was runner-up to Club Leon in the 2023 CONCACAF Champions League and Club America was the top-ranked side in the FIFA Club World Cup confederation rankings come the end of the 2024 CONCACAF Champions League.
The winners of the once-off game will be entered into Club Leon's spot in Group D and will face English side Chelsea FC, Brazilian team Flamengo, and Tunisian giants Esperance De Tunis in the group phase.
FIFA said more details of the fixture will be announced shortly.

"Further details in relation to the play-off match, including information on the date, venue, kick-off time and ticket sales, will be communicated in due course," FIFA said.
