UEFA Europa League Result: Manchester United 4-1 Fenerbahce Date: 20 October 2016 Venue: Old Trafford Paul Pogba produced a brace in the Europa League on Thursday night to lead Manchester United to a 4-1 win over Fenerbahce. The visitors made a solid start to the clash as they negated the United attack quite comfortably. However, that soon changed as the hosts broke the deadlock. In the 30th minute the Red Devils were awarded a penalty after Juan Mata was fouled by Simon Kjaer who fell into the back of the Spaniard in the box. Paul Pogba took responsibility for the spot-kick and slotted it. Two minutes later it was the same result for Jose Mourinho's charges as they won a penalty. Volkan Sener was on the wrong side of Anthony Martial as he tried to win the ball and could only manage to bundle him to the ground in the area. Martial took the penalty and converted for a 2-0 lead. On the stroke of half-time United were cruising. Pogba was teed up on the edge of the penalty area and he unleashed a superb strike that found the top corner of the goal to extend the advantage. Only three minutes into the second half United put the tie to bed entirely as they netted a fourth. Wayne Rooney found Jesse Lingard on the edge of the box and the England international drilled in a low finish. The Premier League outfit were stroking the ball around rather comfortably throughout the second half and only had to deal with a few minor threats. However, in the 83rd minute a former United star Robin van Persie gave the traveling support something to cheer as he netted a consolation goal.
