The Serbian defender joined United in 2006 and has gone on to win five Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League title and three League Cups.
However, the 34-year-old, who is now retired, revealed he almost joined Liverpool but former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson convinced to join the Old Trafford outfit.
"Yes. Rafa Benitez called me and I nearly went there. I was interested in going but my English wasn't good and I was struggling to communicate," Vidic told FourFourTwo.
"Then Manchester United came. Fergie called me at my apartment and said: 'I watched you play for Serbia against France - I want you here'. United were decisive. Everything was done very quickly, within two days."
Vidic departed the Red Devils in 2014 for Inter Milan, where he only made 28 appearances in Serie A, before officially retiring this year.
