According to TBR Football, the Reds are ready to shatter the British transfer record for a second time in the same window with a move for the Scandinavian forward.
The transfer saga surrounding the 25-year-old has dragged on for much of the summer, but with only days left before the window closes, the reigning English champions appear determined to bring it to an end.
The report claims that Liverpool are preparing an initial £130 million (R3.1 billion) offer, which could rise to £140 million (R3.3 billion) with add-ons. Isak was absent from the Newcastle United squad that lost 3-2 to the Reds earlier this week, and there are now serious doubts about whether he will feature for the Magpies again.
While Newcastle are said to be holding out for around £150 million (R3.5 billion), Arne Slot’s side are reportedly unwilling to meet that valuation. It remains to be seen whether the Magpies will bow to mounting pressure, but in the meantime, they are already exploring replacements.
Rumours in recent weeks have linked Newcastle with another Scandinavian forward, Jorgen Strand Larsen, while their interest in Yoane Wissa has also been noted.

However, both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford have been reluctant to part ways with their star attackers, though Newcastle are expected to push hard until the deadline – much like Liverpool are doing with Isak.
