The new coach has performed above expectations so far, despite not being able to make any additions to his squad ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, but there are a few areas in his team that could be addressed.
Lampard has Marcos Alonso for the left-back spot, but the Spaniard has failed to feature in a matchday squad for the past four games, and seems to be heading towards the exit door. Emerson Palmeri has often been preferred, but Cesar Azpilicueta has been played out of position there at times as well.
The Daily Mail has claimed Lampard will be given £150 million to spend next month, and one of his key targets is understood to be Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell. The England international, though, will not come cheap, and could cost in the region of £70 million (R1.35 billion).
Other areas that could be improved are at centre-back, on the wings and up front. At the back, Fikayo Tomori has done well after being given a chance by Lampard, but Chelsea are still leaking goals, and as a result, are reportedly keen on bringing Nathan Ake back from AFC Bournemouth.
On the wing, Eden Hazard was never really replaced when he left for Real Madrid in July, while Pedro Rodriguez and Willian are not getting any younger. Players such as Jadon Sancho and Wilfried Zaha have been linked with the Blues, but it remains to be seen whether or not the Blues can secure either of their signatures in January.
