Pep Guardiola has commented on rumours linking Manchester City with a move for Erling Haaland, saying that his club could make a R2 billion signing in the future.
The Spaniard was asked about the Borussia Dortmund striker ahead of the Citizens' UEFA Champions League quarter-final against the Bundesliga side on Tuesday night.
The clash comes amid rumours linking the Norway sensation with various clubs, including City, while his agent Mino Raiola and his father met with Spanish giants FC Barcelona and Real Madrid last week.
When asked about the BVB forward, Guardiola remained coy on the transfer talk, but could not resist praising the 20-year-old.
"All I can say is he is an exceptional striker for his age," he said, as per The Express.
"The numbers speak for themselves. He's a fantastic player, that's all.
"In that age scoring that amount of goals is not easy to find. The numbers speak for themselves. When that happens, it is because he can score right, left, counter, box, header.
"He's a fantastic striker, everybody knows it. A blind guy can realise he is a good striker. It is not necessary to be a manager."
Guardiola also explained why City are yet to spend £100 million (R2 billion) on a single player, but hinted that it could happen in the near future.
"Spending a lot of money on one player doesn't give you an advantage to win," he added.
"Football is a team game, everyone makes a contribution. Competitions are not won by one player, it is every player.
"So far, the club has decided not to spend close to £100 million for a player. Maybe in the future it will happen, when the club decides it is necessary to improve the team for the next five to 10 years."
