Result: RB Leipzig 0-1 Bayern Munich

Date: 03 April 2020

Venue: Red Bull Arena

Bayern Munich moved seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga with a slender win over second-place RB Leipzig on Saturday evening.

With Robert Lewandowski missing through injury, Cameroon international Eric Choupo-Moting joined the attack while Theo Hernandez and Kingsley Coman were also recalled by Hansi Flick.

Leipzig looked lively in the early stages, with Christopher Nkunku showing some good promise down the wing while Marcel Sabitzer went close with a volley after 18 minutes.

Choupo-Moting had a great chance to put Bayern ahead on 24 minutes when managed to skip past Dayot Upamecano, but his low shot sailed inches wide of the upright.

The deadlock was eventually broken on 38 minutes as Thomas Muller turned provider once again to pick out Leon Goretzka, who sent a powerful finish past Peter Gulasci.

The home side responded with a change at the start of the second half, with Emil Forsberg making way for Justin Kluivert.

The second half continued in similar fashion to the first, but Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer had to be at his best on the hour mark to keep out Sabitzer's stinging strike from distance.

Flick opted for a couple changes of his own as Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala replaced Coman and Goretzka fo the final 20 minutes of the second half.

However, the changes did not make the desired impact as the solitary strike from Goretzka was enough to hand the defending champions the spoils on the night.
