African-born starlet Youssoufa Moukoko was on target as Borussia Dortmund got back to winning ways in the Bundesliga with a 2-0 victory over ten-man Hertha Berlin on Saturday evening.
Dortmund made three changes from their defeat against Bayern Munich, as Julian Brandt, Jude Bellingham and Morey Bauza were all recalled.
The hosts were on the front foot in the early stages and Marco Reus came close to giving them the lead in the 18th minute with a stunning free-kick from outside the box that came off the bar.
Jude Bellingham also came close to breaking the deadlock for Dortmund in the 33rd minute with a volley that was dipping towards the crossbar but shot-stopper Rune Jarstein made a great save.
Hertha were coming into the game in the closing phase of the first stanza but they lacked the cutting edge in the final third, although they restricted BVB to a goalless draw heading to the break.
Edin Terzic's charges had a good start in the second stanza as Brandt finally broke the deadlock nine minutes from the break with a rocket from range after he was given space to aim at goal.
Mahmoud Dahoud came close to making it 2-0 for Dortmund on the hour-mark with a strike from the edge of the box that took a deflection and looped into the crossbar.
Hertha saw their chances of coming back into the game diminish in the last ten minutes after they were reduced to ten men following the red-card of Vladimir Darida for a dangerous tackle on Reus.
However, Moukoko finally sealed the three points for Dortmund with the second goal in stoppage time after unleashing a low strike from the edge of the box as Terzic's men went up to fifth on the log while Hertha dropped down to 15th.
