Der Klassiker lived up to the hype as Bayern Munich came back from two goals to beat Borussia Dortmund 4-2, with Robert Lewandowski bagging a hat-trick.
Dortmund are without both Jadon Sancho and Raphael Guerreiro for the contest. There were four changes in total for Dortmund as Thomas Meunier, Nico Schulz and Dan-Axel Zagadou came into the back four.
Dortmund were ahead inside two minutes in Munich. Meunier's high ball into the middle wasn't dealt with on the edge of the Bayern area and Haaland could bring it down. He had space to shoot and a touch off Jerome Boateng took it into the far bottom corner past Manuel Neuer.
Haaland found the net for the second time in the space of the opening nine minutes. Mahmoud Dahoud's pass to Schulz on the left opened up space and he slotted Hazard in behind, who cut the ball across past Neuer and in the perfect place for Haaland to hit home.
With Haaland stealing the show, Lewandowski did get his goal on 27 minutes with a simple finish from close range after getting on the end of Sane's cross.
A minute before the half-time interval, Coman was brought down by Dahoud and the referee pointed to the spot. Lewandowski stepped up and slotted the ball past the keeper for his 30th goal of the campaign.
Shortly after the hour mark, Sane latched onto a long ball over the Dortmund defence, holding off Hummels before he laid the ball off for Lewandowski, who shot from 18 yards, but curled the ball over the top.
Haaland then came off with a niggle and was replaced by Tigges, while Julian Brandt replaced Hazard. And the substitute Tigges spotted Neuer off his line from the halfway line and shot at goal with the ball on the bounce but Neuer recovered to grab it.
Just when it looked as if the game was heading for a draw, the Bavarians scored two goals in quick succession in the 88th minute and 90th minute.
First, Meunier's clearance fell to Goretzka on the edge of the box and it was a miss-hit volley, but it bounced beyond the reach of Hitz to nestle in the bottom corner.
And then Sane made a clever dummy before Lewandowski controlled the ball and powered home past Hitz from 20 yards with an outstanding strike low across goal to cap a fantastic comeback.
