Bayern Munich stretched their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table to ten points with a 2-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday evening.
The Bavarians made only one change from the side that edged Wolfsburg in a five-goal thriller, as Kingsley Coman replaced Leroy Sane in the line-up.
Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting gave the hosts a perfect start with the opener in the seventh minute after firing home a deflected volley after Thomas Muller's initial volley was saved by shot-stopper Lukas Hradecky.
Joshua Kimmich doubled the lead for Bayern in the 13th minute with a blasting strike across Hradecky after Daley Sinkgraven put him through with a poor touch trying to clear a cross.
Hradecky kept Leverkusen in the game with crucial saves and with ten minutes left of the first stanza, he parried Kimmich's thunderbolt into the path of Choupo-Moting at the back post but the Cameroonian's shot missed just wide.
Bayern kept on putting the visitors under pressure coming from the break but they were not creating clear chances and Hans-Dieter Flick made a triple change in the 64th minute, as Tanguy Kouassi, Sane and Leon Goretzka replaced Jerome Boateng, Coman and Muller.
Choupo-Moting thought he had made it 3-0 for the Bavarians two minutes later after racing clear on goal from Kimmich through ball over the top and fired a strike past Hradecky at the near post, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
Karim Bellarabi had a wonderful chance to pull a goal back for Hannes Wolf's charges in the last 20 minutes after a cross by Leon Bailey on the byline but his strike came off the crossbar.
Leverkusen were increasing their intensity as Nadiem Amiri also came close to pulling a goal back in the last quarter of an hour with strike from the edge of the box that was kept out Manuel Neuer, who denied Bellarabi from the resultant corner that was taken short.
In the end, the two first-half goals were anough to hand the Bavarians victory to extend their lead at the top of the log to ten points while Leverkusen remain in sixth place.
