Zinedine Zidane's votes for France Football's 2019 Kopa Trophy, handed out to the best U21 player in a year, have been revealed, and could cause some disgruntlement among Real Madrid fans.

On Monday, Matthijs de Ligt became the second winner of the award, which was introduced in 2018 when Kylian Mbappe lifted it.
Zidane, though, did not have the Juventus defender among his top three choices, as was revealed by France Football, who have now made the Los Blancos boss' votes public.
He reportedly opted for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, who ended up in second place in the eventual ranking.

The Frenchman chose the England star over his own player Vinicius Junior, who was among the 10 final nominees but ended up as his coach's second choice for the award.
Joao Felix completed Zidane's picks, with the Atletico Madrid star finishing in third place in the overall ranking.
Vinicius had a great breakout season with Real in 2018/19, scoring seven goals and assisting another 13 strikes before rupturing his knee ligaments.
By the time he completed his recovery, though, Zidane had returned to the club as coach, and the Brazilian has struggled to cement a place in his team since.

This season, he has only started four games, making 11 appearances overall, during which he has contributed to just two goals.
