The South African attacker has been a target for the record Moroccan champions since the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign.
The Bafana Bafana international joined the Red Castle midway through last season and made an immediate impact, helping the club secure a third-place finish and a successful return to continental football, with Wydad now set to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Lorch’s contributions extended beyond the domestic league, as he was also part of the Wydad squad that participated in the FIFA Club World Cup. The Bloemfontein-born star delivered standout performances against the likes of Manchester City, Juventus and Al Ain. These displays seemingly prompted the three-time African champions to expedite efforts to secure the attacker on a permanent basis.
Rumours have circulated in recent weeks that Wydad have held talks with Sundowns regarding a potential transfer. However, it is believed the North African giants have so far been unable to meet the Betway Premiership side’s valuation of the 31-year-old.
At one stage, reports suggested Wydad had withdrawn from the race to sign the former Orlando Pirates star, but now, according to Radio Mars, the Casablanca-based club are preparing a renewed approach, as they remain keen admirers of Lorch’s talents.
