With Percy Tau now a free agent and free to sign with any club, newly crowned African champions Pyramids FC have reportedly made a decision on potentially signing him.

Earlier this month, Qatar SC announced that they would be parting ways with the Witbank native. Tau joined the Qatari Stars League outfit at the start of the year after they allegedly paid the outstanding €155 000 (R3.1 million) that was remaining on his Al Ahly contract.
The Bafana Bafana man had a relatively good, albeit brief, stint with Qatar as he managed to grab four assists in the nine top-flight matches he played during the six months he was at the Khalifa International Stadium. He will now, however, have to find a new club to play for from the 2025/26 campaign onwards after he was let go.
A possible landing spot for the 31-year-old is Egypt. Tau had a trophy-laden stint in the Egyptian capital with the Club of the Century, as he amassed a total of 13 titles during his time with Ahly. Such was his form during the 2022/23 campaign, he even won CAF’s Interclub Player of the Year that season, the most prestigious individual honour given to an African player plying their trade on the continent.
One of the clubs touted as a possible landing spot following his Middle Eastern adventure is Pyramids FC.

The Cairo-based club recently defeated Mamelodi Sundowns to win their first-ever CAF Champions League title, and now they have been linked with the 46-capped international.
However, a source close to the club has informed Egyptian publication Al Masry Al Youm that they harbour no plans of bringing the 2017/18 Betway Premiership Golden Boot winner on board and that they are instead prioritising extending the contracts of their current forward players.
