Exclusive: Ex-Esperance Boss Rivals Riveiro For Zamalek Job

The Romanian tactician has been without a job since leaving Elias Mokwana and his teammates in March 2025, but he could soon be on his way to the five-time African champions, as he has begun talks with the White Knights.

Earlier this week, the North African outfit confirmed the departure of Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro. The former Nigeria boss was appointed as recently as February, but after being eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup by competition debutants Stellenbosch FC and falling further behind in the Egyptian Premier League title race, the club decided it would be best to have a new man steer the ship for the remainder of the campaign.

Zamalek subsequently appointed Ayman El Ramadi as caretaker manager for the rest of the season, but they are still very much on the hunt for a new permanent boss.

Earlier in the season, this publication revealed that Riveiro was a leading candidate for the position. However, information reaching Soccer Laduma now suggests that Reghecampf is also a name highly regarded by the club’s hierarchy.
