Josef Zinnbauer is reportedly contemplating a shock decision ahead of the new Algerian topflight season by leaving JS Kabylie.

Last season, the Canaries came within two points of winning the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1, ultimately losing out to MC Alger, now coached by Rulani Mokwena. Kabylie kicked off their campaign with a 1-1 draw with Ben Aknoun.
After narrowly missing out on the championship during the 2024/25 campaign, one might have expected a sense of optimism heading into the new season. However, that does not appear to be the case — particularly for head coach Zinnbauer.
According to La Gazette Du Fennec, the German tactician was absent from the team’s training session on Wednesday in what is believed to be a move aimed at holding the club’s executives accountable, as he is reportedly threatening to walk away from his role.
The crux of the issue lies in the lack of recruitment. The report claims that before the transfer window, Zinnbauer was promised significant reinforcements, but so far last season’s runners-up have only secured eight new signings.
Beyond that, it is also understood that interference from the club’s management in player recruitment is another factor fuelling Zinnbauer’s alleged frustration and potential exit, according to La Gazette Du Fennec.

It is further reported that Mobilis, the club’s majority shareholder, has requested a meeting with chairman El Hadi Ould-Ali to strategise for the remainder of the transfer window in a bid to avert further crisis.
