Davids and the Simba management staff have been hard at work to boost the squad ahead of the upcoming season as they look to challenge for the Tanzanian Premier League and CAF Champions League trophies.
Among their signings this season are former Mamelodi Sundowns duo Neo Maema and Rushine De Reuck, but the South African admitted that his team required one more player to make the team complete.
"We’re still looking for that one more X-factor player, a creative player to give us that spark in the final third,” said Davids.
“We came up short last season in crucial games, especially in the final match against Yanga. We need that difference-maker," the ex-Orlando Pirates boss said.
The 44-year-old praised the support of club President Mohammed Dewji, while he also acknowledged that Simba's transfer dealings were due to the financial help of Jayrutty Investment.
"Our hope now, in these final stages of the window, is that Jayrutty Investment can step in and help us land this big signing," Davids said
"It’s the player who can make a difference in the finals. With Champions League football ahead, this could be the defining step,” he added.
Davids admitted that his main ambition was to reclaim domestic dominance away from Yanga and admitted his 'X-Factor' player would help to achieve that.

“We’ve had tremendous backing from the president. His support has been vital in the recruitment process and with the help of the scouting team, we’ve made great strides,” he said.
