Ahly Chief 'Warns' Players Ahead Of Pirates Clash

The Al Ahly president has reportedly sent a warning to his players ahead of their CAF Champions League clash against Orlando Pirates.

On Saturday afternoon, the Club of the Century is set to renew its continental rivalry with the Sea Robbers at Orlando Stadium.

It will be the first time the two sides face each other since the competition's 2013 final, where the Red Devils got the better of their South African counterparts courtesy of a 3-1 aggregate victory.

This time around, both sides enter the contest in indifferent form. While Pirates enjoyed a 100% record in the league during their first seven matches, they dropped points for the first time this past weekend when they lost 1-0 to Stellenbosch FC.

Al Ahly are also not firing on all cylinders at the moment, as a 4-2 win over Stade d'Abidjan has been sandwiched between draws against Ittihad Alexandria and Bank El Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League.

These domestic results are seemingly a cause for concern for the club's top brass, mainly president Mahmoud El Khatib.

According to Kooora, prior to the squad's departure for South Africa, the 70-year-old held a meeting with the team at the club's training facility and emphasised how important it was for them to win their upcoming matches during the month of December, starting against Jose Riveiro's charges.

The record African champions also have a FIFA Intercontinental Cup semi-final against either Mexico's Pachuca or Brazil's Botafogo, which could set up a final clash against Real Madrid.

It is said that El Khatib emphasised that the club and the fans will not tolerate any results like the ones in the league, as he wants all their focus on winning matches.
