An Orlando Pirates star has backed his home country to go all the way and win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

South African top division, the Premier Soccer League, is one of the most represented leagues at the latest iteration of Africa's biggest showpiece.
Most of its best players have gone to represent their respective nations in a bid to be crowned the new kings of the continent, but arguably one of the top flight's best imports, Olisa Ndah, was unable to make the trip to Ivory Coast.
The Nigerian was not selected as part Jose Peseiro's final squad, but that has not stopped the central defender from believing his compatriots are capable of adding a fourth AFCON title to their name.
"I really think it's possible for us to win this AFCON. I think a lot of people are not looking at us as the favourites to win it and that can work in our favour because we don't have any pressure," the 26-year-old told the Sowetan.
"Senegal and Morocco are the favourites according to many people, but as the Super Eagles, I think we are more than capable of surprising them by winning it.
"I think we [as Nigeria] were silently moving forward. A lot of people expected a lot of things from us, especially in the first game.

"It was important that we avoided losing against Equatorial Guinea and that draw inspired us to step up. You can see that this AFCON is not easy. There's no longer a small team on the continent."
