Ahead of City's first competitive game of the season – the FA Community Shield against Manchester United on Saturday – Julian Alvarez's future in England is far from certain.
The 24-year-old has spoken about wanting to start more important games for the Citizens, despite appearing in 54 matches across all competitions in the 2023/24 campaign.
Guardiola, meanwhile, has said that the Argentina international's future will depend on him, although City are reportedly not prepared to sell him for around €40 million (R804.5 million) and €50 million (R1 billion).
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the club will not stand in his way if he does want to leave, but will demand a hefty fee for his signature.
French giants Paris Saint-Germain and Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid are believed to have been in contact with the striker, who joined City from River Plate in 2022.
