Sukazi: Mofokeng Does The Same Or Better Than Lamine Yamal

TS Galaxy President Tim Sukazi has heaped praise on Orlando Pirates' Relebohile Mofokeng, likening him to Spain and FC Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal.

Sukazi was hammering home his point about the natural talent with which South African players are born, although he emphasized the need for this talent to be nurtured in the proper hands.

The former agent has been vocal about the need for clubs to employ coaches, who at the minimum, are in possession of a UEFA Pro license, in order for South African players to thrive.

"In South Africa we are unique. We have the talent from birth. Our players, don't train to be talented. We may rave about Lamine Yamal but Mofokeng in Orlando Pirates does the exact (same) or even better, in my humble opinion, because our league is much faster than what you see in La Liga for example, they are slow. They've got time on the ball, they are tactical, they're very much aware, we are very fast, and our game is high paced, but then to navigate at his age the ball and decide matches like he does. He is in the exact if not better level than Yamal of Barcelona. If you don't believe me, put them on the field together you will see what we're talking about," he told journalists at the media round table in Mpumalanga.

"So, we have that kind of talent. And then it must be trained by the qualified people, so, I was very elated. Subsequently, when I saw SAFA coming out to prescribe a standard of coaching for our Premier Division. So, sometimes it's pleasing and very fulfilling when good words don't fall to ground for nothing, they fall into some fertile ground which will benefit our football. Right, so as of this season, every coach that will sit on the bench will be qualified to sit there, not me coming from my chair at home because I think I know. Then I sit and or anyone and everyone. No, it will be a qualified coach who meets the standards set by our own Football Association with the support of our own league. I think what we advocated for as TS Galaxy or myself personally now is yielding some good food for the benefit of the game," he said.
