Sundowns Close To Securing Bafana Star?

Sundowns Close To Securing Bafana Star?

Siya sources close to the club have indicated that both parties are believed to be happy with the conditions of a new contract.

The source added that it is understood to be a three-year deal with a one-year option, which could see Mvala remain at the club until June 2029.

"When we spoke before, that time it was a proposal from the club and the talks were ongoing. They have been going on for some time now and for now it's believed that the deal is as good as done. Mvala is set to remain at the team for the next three years plus a one-year option. Which means, he could be at the club until June 2029," the Siya source stated.

A second insider reminded readers how the club is using a European approach to dealing with contracts, which is why they offered him a new deal towards the end of last year. This ensures that when he is remaining with only a few months on his current contract, everything is in place.

"They are working differently from most South African clubs. Even when it seems like they haven't sealed the deal they know they are safe with their players because they open talks  a long time before the current contract expires. So, as for Mvala, the new deal is as good as done and it's a three-year contract with a one-year option," the second source stated.

30-year-old Mvala had joined the Brazilians in 2020 from then Highlands Park, together with striker Peter Shalulile. He signed an initial five-year deal which runs out next June.

Since joining Sundowns, he has been an important part of the team, which has translated to being a Bafana Bafana regular under coach Hugo Broos too.

As Mvala is expected to prepare to extend his stay at Sundowns, the club's proactive approach to contract negotiations ensures stability and continuity. Fans would be pleased to see the experienced defender remain a key part of the team for the foreseeable future, if the deal is completed soon.
