Players Hot For Their Clubs But Under Par For Bafana

Part of the criteria to make it in the Bafana Bafana set-up is for players to well and truly shine for their club. They should stand out and have the quality to be amongst the best in the land when linking up with fellow Bafana teammates.

Nevertheless, there are quite a few players who fail to emulate their club form with the national team, and today the Fan Park Crew will take a look at some players who do well for the clubs, but are unconvincing for Bafana Bafana.

Oupa Manyisa

Ace has been Orlando Pirates' most influential midfielder in the last couple of seasons, but has been unable to dominate in the midfield for Bafana Bafana. Also, coach Shakes Mashaba is not doing Manyisa any favours by playing him out of position on the left-flank, and he is yet to stamp his name on the international scene.

Lehlohonolo Majoro

Major may be the top goal scorer in the Absa Premiership, but when given the chance with the national team, Major has been anything but prolific. In Bafana’s most recent friendlies, against Swaziland and Nigeria, Major failed to impress Shakes following his lacklustre performances in both games.

Thuso Phala

The powerful SuperSport United winger has been bang on form for his club this season, scoring and creating many chances in the process. When called up to the national team for the 2015 African Cup of Nations, Phala rarely thrilled fans.

Thabo Matlaba

Festival, as he is known to his peers, looked rather average when putting on the Bafana jersey and looks a different player when turning out for Bucs. It may be down to style and tactics, but when given less freedom to roam forward, Matlaba becomes less effective and this has been the case when playing for the national team.

What other players do you think have performed for their clubs but slack at national team level?
