Chiefs To Offer Over R14m For Prized Striker?

Kaizer Chiefs are stepping up their interest in a highly rated overseas striker, according to sources privy to information.

Having already secured four significant signings this season in Fiacre Ntwari, Rushwin Dortley, Bongani Sam, and Gaston Sirino, Amakhosi are now setting their sights on acquiring a top-priority striker.

Siya sources have indicated that Chiefs are preparing an offer for DRC striker Fiston Mayele, who is currently based in Egypt with Pyramid FC.

Sources close to the club added that Pyramid FC have placed a high valuation on Mayele, close to R20 million. However, Chiefs are expected to propose a good offer and wait for Pyramids' response.

"He is one of the players the coach really wants at the club. Yes, he is not coming cheap because they are talking between R14m to R20m. Now the team has prepared the offer for Pyramid to look at and they will take it from there. For what I know is that it's a much bigger one than the one they offered to Stellenbosch FC for defender Fawaaz Basadien. I understand it is around R15m or so. They are stretching themselves on this one because they don't want excuses at the end of the day. So, that offer is prepared and soon we will know what's going on," the Siya source stated.

A second insider highlighted that the negotiation complexities extend beyond the transfer fee to include Mayele's salary, which is among the highest in Egypt.

"They are not just looking at what the club to club offer will be but also the salary. They are looking at keeping their financials in check and they don't want to sign a very high earning player but at the same time not having a balanced squad. So, they are looking at every angle is the deal which could make sense both business wise and football wise. But the offer has been prepared and soon things will be clear on Fiston Mayele moving to Chiefs," the second source observed.

A potential acquisition of Mayele is part of Chiefs' broader strategy to enhance their squad's competitiveness, particularly in the attacking department, as they aim to bolster their performance in the upcoming season.

Soccer Laduma reached out to Chiefs for comment regarding these developments, but there was no response at the time of preparing this story.
