Orlando Pirates’ new signing Riyaad Norodien believes that the Sea Robbers will lift silverware this season, and admits it will be a ‘dream come true’ if he played in the famous Soweto Derby. Do you think it is possible?
The winger, who signed from Ajax Cape Town alongside Abbubaker Mobara, spoke to Orlando Pirates Magazine about his move to the club and names two of his favourite players that donned the black and white kit.
“The expectation for me is more to learn. It is such a big club I have come to now,” he said.
“Some of my favourite past players [at Pirates] is the likes of number one; Benni McCarthy when he returned to South African football. Benedict Vilakazi – one of the shortest players but one of the most instrumental players in the midfield.”
With the derby coming up next month in October, Norodien admits that it is something he has been waiting to feature in his whole life, before admitting the team is prepared to fight tooth and nail to lift a trophy.
“Playing for Orlando Pirates will be a huge honour in the derby because, for me, I always used to watch it. If I could get five/ ten minutes, it would be a dream come true,” he added.
“The fans can expect silverware from the guys because I know the guys are serious, and with a coach like Muhsin, he likes to win things. Silverware is what they want and silverware is what they are going to get.”
Do you think Pirates can go all the way this season?
