The Manchester derby will be played later today and it’s become a little tradition to make a combined XI when two big teams face each other.
City have won the last five outings in this derby, but arrive into this one in the worst possible form. United, meanwhile, have been getting stronger week in and week out.
Let’s not delay this much longer… Here is our combined XI
Goalkeeper: David De Gea
De Gea has arguably been United’s best player and has been a million times better in goals than Joe Hart this season.
Right-Back: Pablo Zabaleta
The Argentine is a natural right-back and we feel he is a more stable option than Antonio Valencia.
Centre-Back: Chris Smalling
The England defender has improved in recent weeks, but time will tell whether he can hold down a permanent spot in the side.
Centre-Back: Martin Demichelis
The Argentine has arguably been City’s best defender this season, considering that Vincent Kompany has just been terrible.
Left-Back: Daley Blind
The utility player has really looked at home at left- back this season and he has done a great job in shutting up shop down that left-hand side.
Centre-Midfield: Michael Carrick
Carrick has been a revelation for United since his return from injury and he has brought great balance to the side.
Centre-Midfield: Ander Herrera
The Spaniard has hit a rich vein of form. Not only has he become a holding midfielder, he has also scored a few crucial goals.
Right-Wing: Juan Mata
Playing just in front of Carrick and Herrera has brought the best out of him and it has also allowed him to create chances as well as score more goals.
Attacking-Midfielder: Wayne Rooney
Some might think it’s strange that we have picked him here, but he loves working behind a striker and can contribute in all phases of the game.
Left-Wing: David Silva
He has been one of City’s main playmakers this season and is able to rotate positions with Rooney and Mata if need be.
Striker: Sergio Aguero
It only takes a split second for Aguero to turn nothing into something.
What do you think of the side?
