Despite winning both the Absa Premiership League title and the MTN8 competition this season, our beloved goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune said in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma that the club wanted to win all trophies on display but are happy with the one’s that had been won.
It would have been difficult winning all but I feel that winning the league came as a huge sigh of relief of the Amakhosi fans.
When speaking about this season’s title success, Itu said, “We wanted to win even more. At the start of the season we set our targets on all the, trophies which we are playing for but unfortunately we lost out on other trophies.
"We are happy with the double, but we could have won more trophies as that was our goal.”
Khune also elaborated on what were the low points this season, with the elimination from the CAF Champions League being just one of them.
“I think so far it has been the two losses in the league to SuperSport Untied and Maritzburg United. Failing to reach the finals in the other competitions and being eliminated in Africa was also disappointing, but we are learning each and every time,” he said.
“I think as a team we have done very well. We have won two doubles in three seasons, and that’s a great achievement,” Khune added.
Are you happy, as a fan of Chiefs, that we won at least the league and MTN8 in the manner that we did?
