Training Boycott? CT Spurs Take Strong Decision

Cape Town Spurs have taken a strong decision regarding some of their want-away in-demand players who are allegedly trying to force a move away from Ikamva.

Spurs have been inundated with requests and offers for their players following their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Of the offers they received, a large majority were not to the club's evaluation of their players – and the ones who did, ended up in transfers as in the case of Rushwin Dortley to Kaizer Chiefs.

But well-placed Siya sources have informed the crew that a number of players have not taken kindly to Spurs' stance – and as a result, have decided to allegedly boycott training, reportedly providing the club with reasons as to why they are not present at the club's base.

According to the source, the club's board have in turn, taken the decision to bring reinforcements into the club – a special budget has been understood to be allocated to this – while the want-away players would be paid their salary as per their contracts.

However, the club is believed to intend to eventually add the costs of the new recruitments - including that of their salaries - to the asking price of their in-demand players, meaning that the club's already high asking price, would increase even higher.

The Siya crew reached out to Spurs' CEO Alexi Efstathiou, although he would not divulge any details on the matter.

"Look, it's an internal issue. I wouldn't want to confirm or deny anything at this point," he told the Siya crew.

Spurs have stated in the past that they would not stand in the way of players in the event that they receive palatable offers – but have stated they expect players to remain professional and honour their contracts.
